7 Years!

On May 15th J and I celebrated our 7 year wedding anniversary. We had discussed what we were going to do on our anniversary but could not really come up with any good ideas. J really wanted to actually celebrate our anniversary this year considering the last couple of years we really didn't get to do anything on our anniversary. Last year my cousin got married on our anniversary and J graduated the day before with his Masters degree. The year before that I was so sick from being pregnant that I don't even think I knew it was our anniversary. Anyway we finally decided that we were going to go to a B&B somewhere. Well since we are both school teachers and aren't really supposed to be taking off work at the end of the school year without a good reason we decided that we should go somewhere close by so that we didn't have to take off work.

I did some research and found a historic B&B in Jackson, TN. It is called the Highland Place B&B. So I booked it for one night. Now we haven't ever left our little boy and left town before so that was a first. He has had plenty of sleepovers at my moms house but we were always in town. It was a nice little getaway and a much needed break from motherhood for me. I don't think I it would make it in the this mothering business with out my moms help.

While we were there we ate lunch at the Casey Jones Museum Buffet. If you haven't even stopped and eaten there I would definitely recommend it. The buffet it awesome and the store is really neat to look around. We also ate dinner at The Old Town Spaghetti Restaurant. It was delicious! It was rainy and cloudy that day so we just relaxed at the B&B and really enjoyed being able to relax without chasing after a very active toddler.

Now that we have stayed at a B&B I am not sure I can ever stay at a hotel again. Everyone should stay in a B&B at least once because it is such a neat experience. I will leave you with a few photos from our trip.

  1. This makes me want to take a day trip just to eat at Casey Jones! I haven't been since I was a teenager. Love the pictures! We have never stayed at a B&B, so I'll have to talk Jason into trying that.

  2. Amy you should definitely stay at a B&B somewhere. If you are looking for a close getaway for one night I would definitely recommend this place. It is so gorgeous and the owners are so nice that it felt so relaxing. Jay keeps saying he wishes we were back there again. I think he really loved it!
